FUNDRAISING

What is the cutoff date for fundraising?

Fundraising through www.greatbigchallenge.com must be completed by 11:59pm 2/15/17 to be eligible for prizes. Any checks must be mailed to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, 2202 North Westshore Blvd, Suite 455, Tampa, FL 33607 and must be received by 2/15/17.

Are there fundraising incentives?

Participating in The Great Big Challenge is about getting fit and helping kids. But for fundraising, we want to thank you for your effort and commitment, and we would like to reward you with some exclusive prizes.  To check out all incentives, click here.

How do I get my incentives?

If you qualify for a thank you gift, you will receive an email from DoNotReply@bbbsa.org that contains instructions for you to use to claim your incentive item. Simply follow the instructions in that email, complete the online form, and we will ship your materials out to you.  Redemption certificates must be redeemed within four weeks of receipt. All eligible participants will receive their redemption certificates via email or U.S. mail after the close of fundraising.

Can I win one of each recognition item?

You may redeem any item from your highest level achieved (or under). Great Big Challenge participants who register and raise funds are eligible to redeem a recognition item based on their fundraising totals.  

Does my team’s total count for a recognition gift?

General team fundraising totals and non-participating donors do not qualify for recognition gifts. Great Big Challenge recognition items are not cumulative.

Can I adjust my fundraising goal after I register?

Yes.  You can edit this yourself using the “Edit Your Profile” tool.

Can I connect Great Big Challenge to my social media accounts?

Absolutely. On your profile page, connect to Facebook or Twitter and sign up for automatic updates. We also encourage you to push your fundraising page to your social media sites often and ask your friends for support.

 

TEAMS

Can I start a team?

Yes. Just select ‘Start a Team” during the registration process.

I forgot to join a team during registration. Can I still join one?

Yes. If you signed up as an individual during registration but would like to join a team now, you can do so inside your fundraising portal.  Simply click “Change Team Membership” and follow the prompts. If you have trouble, please fill out the “Contact Us” form on the Great Big Challenge website and make sure to include your name, email address, and the name of the team you would like to join.

 

DONATIONS

Is my donation to the Great Big Challenge tax deductible?

Yes.  Big Brothers Big Sisters of America is an exempt organization as described in Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code, EIN #23-1365190.  All donations will be tax-deductible, regardless of amount.

 

Can I donate checks/cash?

Yes! Any cash/check donations can be mailed to the following address:

Please include the following information with the donation:

  • The first and last name you would like credited for the donation.
  • The contact information for your donor so that BBBSA can send a tax receipt and acknowledgement.

Any offline donations you have received should be entered online on your fundraising portal. Once logged in, click on “Donations” (in the black box at the top of the screen), then “Add Offline Donation.” Once we have received your donations, they will appear as verified (meaning they will show up on your thermometer).

How can I become a corporate partner for the Great Big Challenge?

REGISTRATION

Is there a requirement for the physical activity, i.e. miles walked/jogged, distance biked, etc.? Are activity goals required?

The most important thing is that you are exercising – no matter the type of exercise you do.  If you’d like to incorporate your own fitness program, that’s okay too.  Your fitness goals are completely customizable during registration.  You can even pick more than one!

Can I switch fitness tracks later?

Yes.  Just contact us at GreatBigChallenge@bbbsa.org and we can change your track for you.

Can I join after the event start date?

Of course. You can jump in with us at any time. 

Can I donate to a participant even if they did not complete their fitness goal?

Yes.  All funds benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters, regardless of if goals are met.

Do participants need to prove they reached their goal? At certain times throughout the challenge, do participants need to confirm they completed an activity? Or is that up to the participant to decide?

No.  We are going by the honor system!  This is totally up to the participant.
